Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between flat-rate and consumption?

Flat-rate gives a fixed resource pool at a predictable monthly price — ideal for stable workloads. Consumption lets you provision exactly what you need and pay per-resource against a pre-paid deposit — ideal for variable or growing workloads.

Can I switch between pricing models?

Yes. Contact us and we'll migrate your account. Existing VMs stay unaffected.

What happens if I exceed flat-rate plan resources?

You can upgrade to a larger plan or add individual resources at published add-on rates. No automatic overage charges.

Is there a minimum commitment?

Flat-rate: month-to-month with no lock-in (annual saves 10%). Consumption: $1,000 minimum deposit. Platinum and Custom tiers have minimum terms.

How is this different from VPS?

VPS gives you individual servers. Private Cloud gives you a dedicated resource pool where you create, resize, and manage multiple VMs with private networking — on infrastructure exclusively yours. See our VPS plans for single-server needs.

Do I need VMware licensing?

No. Cloudspace runs on Proxmox KVM — no hypervisor licensing fees. This saves $100–$300+/month versus VMware-based providers like ThinkOn or OVHcloud.

Is my deposit refundable?

Yes. Unused balance is refundable minus any outstanding usage charges, with 30 days written notice.

Where is my data stored?

All data stays in Canada at our Edmonton, Alberta data centre. We are Canadian-owned with no CLOUD Act exposure, meeting PIPEDA and provincial privacy requirements. See our Compliance page for details.

Migrating from AWS, Azure, or GCP?

We'll estimate your Cloudspace costs from your current cloud bill. No commitment required.
